Some Last Thoughts On Freedom To Read Week

Today is the last day of Freedom To Read Week here in Canada. To finish it off, I thought that instead of writing about just one site as usual, I would do a link dump.

So here are some more great sites to visit:

• Neil Gaiman has a wonderful post on his blog: it’s a letter from a librarian outlining her experience with attempts to censor material at the library. I can’t begin to sum it up—I just recommend that everyone read it (via Bookshelves of Doom)
Quotations on Censorship (e.g. “You have not converted a man because you have silenced him.” (John Morley)
The Censorship Pages
Bonfire of the Liberties
PEN (“Promoting Literature, Defending Freedom of Expression”)
Free A Challenged Book

Don’t forget too that you can take part in the wonderful Banned Books Reading Challenge.

Finally, you might like to visit bookshelves of doom and buy the wonderful T-shirt that says “Scrotum is not a dirty word.”

Happy reading, everyone.
