Europe’s Oldest Surviving Text To Be Studied

Scientists plan to use a highly-refined form of digital analysis on Europe’s oldest surviving text: the remains of the Derveni papyrus.

Previously there were large portions of the scroll that could not be read; scientists are optimistic that this will no longer be the case.

The results will be published some time in late 2007.
